Cheers Vol. 7- Weekend Getaway

A blast from the past, and my favorite weekend getaway...

Mike first brought me here when we had just started dating in 2014, but he’s been coming here since he was a kid. His family held a site here for many years, and this is where they spent a lot of their summers camping, swimming and exploring. It’s become a very special place for both of us, so special in fact that we almost got married here!

We’ve done it all here... Rented the raddest 60’s throwback airstream decked out in tie dye and shag carpet, to ‘roughing it’ tent style. But this time was really special. We stayed in our family’s 1980-something Winnebago that they just brought here, and for the first time since the 80’s, the Bedard-Cunningham family are 'site-holders' again.

Besides a lot of missing trees due to a fire in 2003, according to Mike, not a lot else has changed. Families from all over Southern California have been coming here since the 60’s and it’s since evolved into a vintage trailer themed camping retreat. The club house and pool area have been preserved to feel like you are transported back in time with avocado green couches and mid-century modern vibes everywhere you look. It is seriously cool.

This place is magical to me, well us. In a little over an hour drive, we're able to transport, escape, decompress, and unwind! When there seems to be so much going on around us, a quick weekend escape really does the trick. How about you? Where are your favorite places to go for a weekend trip or quick getaway? Leave me a comment below!

Cheers to unwinding, decompressing, and escaping from it all... Every once in a while :)

XO, Julie Bedard

P.S. If you’re in the SoCal area, and looking for a nice escape and nostalgic blast from the past, send me a message and I’ll share my secret place with you!!

I’m so glad Pinecrest means so much to you. As you said, it holds a special place in my heart and my memories. It’s a place to ground and center and listen to magic blowing through the trees.

We used to love fishing and camping at Twin Lakes. Far drive but it was always worth it!
